Eyekon
Miami, Florida
* Born in the summer of 1983, Eyekon grew up in the heart of Miami, subject to the sounds of hip hop’s breaks and dance beats from dj’s like Magic Mike and Dj Laz from local radio station Power 96. Shortly after, his view towards music shifted after hearing artists like Kraftwerk, Aquagen and Ferry Corsten, who’s music struck a chord in his mind.
* Later in college, Eyekon got the chance to see some of EDM’s greatest acts by helping promote the local superclubs now known as Club Spin, and the original Club Space. Inside the legendary BLUE ROOM at Space, he was able to hear the sounds of Mauro Picotto, Edgar V, Murk, Paul Van Dyk, where at club Spin, he was also able to hear the massive local talent, like Cedric Gervais, Ivanno Bellini, and Miami’s homegrown Trance Legend, George Acosta. Determined to know more about the scene, he met Deon Butler (Dj Kaenow), who introduced him to his budding show The Vanishing Point, held at the time on FIU’s college radio 88.1FM. Feeling that this was his calling, he saved up and bought his first pair of decks on valentine’s day. Go figure, the love still hasn’t left yet.
* Currently signed onto Canadian label 4 Play Traxx, and a resident on BPM.FM and Groovewaves TV, Carlos Hernandez aka Eyekon has made it clear from his sponsors (Ohmibod, Intergruv_Networks, AnyaEventos) and influences (Matt Smallwood, Ali Wilson, David Tort, Preach, Randy Boyer) that his diversity in the scene is something truly unique, much like his live sets. Feel free to check some of his current material free on EYEKON.PODOMATIC.COM, or live each friday on GROOVEWAVES.TV
